An innovative, transformative and holistic approach to understanding diversity and inclusion.

Offering an innovative and holistic approach to understanding diversity and inclusion

Power and Baker Consultants Ltd was established in 2017 to offer businesses, community, and public sector organisations, an innovative and holistic approach to understanding diversity and inclusion in our increasingly globalised and complex world.

Both Maria Power and Christopher Baker are experts in the fields of diversity and inclusion, and are recognised for their innovative and ground-breaking analyses of the challenges facing contemporary society.

PBC has developed over the years the practical as well as theoretical skills needed to help organisations to navigate the pressing and often difficult contexts that have emerged since the millennium.

Our approach is characterised by a positive belief that diversity can enable organisations to flourish since it brings together the necessary combination of skills, intuition and experience from which creative and inclusive solutions can emerge.

Key ideas that we use in our work are beliefs, values and worldviews; spiritual capital, which describes the motivational energy that we get from our beliefs, values and worldviews; and approaches to cross-cultural dialogue developed in Northern Ireland.

Dr Maria Power is a Research Fellow at Blackfriars, University of Oxford. Her academic research focuses on the role that religions can play in ameliorating violence and ethnic conflict.

Maria has expertise in intra and inter-faith dialogue, the role of ethics in the work and business environment, and peacebuilding practices. She has published and lectured widely on these topics both nationally and internationally. In 2019, she will be a Holland Visiting Fellow at the University of Durham.

Maria is also a regular contributor to the broadcast media with recent appearances on PBS and Monocle 24.

What we offer

Power and Baker Consultants offer a bespoke research service and training service in two areas.

“Beliefs, Values, and Worldviews in the business and work environment”

This aspect will enable both you and your company to understand the positive impact that beliefs, values, and worldviews can have within your organisation, and the ways in which these can be used to improve employees’ leadership skills, strategic problem solving and practical understanding of different religious and belief traditions.

“Dialogue and community cohesion”

This aspect of our work will provide you and your organisation or community group with an analysis of the most suitable means to create and promote community cohesion across a variety of settings including faith groups and those who find themselves in conflict with one another.
